Virat Kohli’s brother, Vikas, has slammed the Indian batter’s critics after the recent remark made by Sanjay Manjrekar. The former Indian cricketer expressed his disappointment and regret at Virat Kohli’s decision to step away from Test cricket. Manjrekar felt the former India captain might have shown greater resolve in trying to regain his best form rather than choosing to end his red-ball journey prematurely.
Vikas Kohli delivered a pointed remark on Threads, targeting those who use Virat’s name to stay relevant. He stated that some individuals cannot run their households without mentioning the star batter. While we are not sure if it was directed right at Manjrekar and his recent comments, fans speculated that it could be the case.
“SEEMS LIKE LOGON KI DAAL ROTI NAHI CHALTI. BINA VIRAT KOHLI KA NAAM LIYE HUE, (It seems like people cannot run their houses without taking Virat Kohli’s name),” said Vikas on Threads.
Despite the off-field chatter, Virat Kohli’s recent achievements in ODI cricket have been notable. Heading into the New Zealand series, he played a significant role in India’s 2-1 home series win over South Africa. Kohli scored 135 and 102 in consecutive matches, followed by an unbeaten 65 to finish as the series’ top scorer with 302 runs.
Virat’s return to domestic cricket in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Delhi after nearly 15 years further boosted his standing. He made 131 off 101 balls against Andhra and 77 off 61 balls versus Gujarat, drawing praise for his immediate impact.
