Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan scripted history on Thursday with his ferocious in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025 final against Haryana. The Jharkhand captain became only the second batter in the tournament history to score a hundred in the finals. Also, he is now the first batter from his state to reach triple figures in an SMAT final.
Ishan ripped apart Haryana’s bowling attack, led by India international Anshul Kamboj. The left-hand batter smoked 10 maximums and 6 fours to bring up his 5th century in SMAT, off just 46 deliveries. Though pacer Sumit Kumar knocked him over soon, Ishan’s innings had already dented Haryana’s confidence in the big final.
Ishan got out for 101 in 49 balls, becoming the second-highest scorer in SMAT history. Punjab batter Anmolpreet Singh tops the chart with his 113 against Baroda in the final of the 2023 edition.
This century also helped Ishan equal Abhishek Sharma’s record of most hundreds in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. While Abhishek has 5 tons in 54 innings, Ishan reached this feat in 62.
