In a major, rather positive development, star India batter Shreyas Iyer has been discharged from the hospital in Sydney. The BCCI on Saturday provided a third update onIyer’s recovery via an official statement, confirming that the right-hand batter is ‘stable’ and has been discharged from the hospital in Sydney.

“He [Shreyas Iyer] is now stable and recovering well. The BCCI Medical Team, along with specialists in Sydney and India, are pleased with his recovery, and he has been discharged from the hospital today,” the BCCI statement read.

Iyer suffered a blunt abdominal injury while fielding during the third ODI against Australia on October 25, 2025, which led to a spleen laceration and internal bleeding. The injury was quickly diagnosed, and the bleeding was controlled through a minor procedure. He has since received appropriate medical treatment and is recovering well.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India further extended its heartfelt gratitude to Dr Koroush Haghighi (specialist at the Sydney hospital) and Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who handled Iyer’s injury without any glitch.

“The BCCI extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr Koroush Haghighi and his team in Sydney, along with Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala in India, for ensuring Shreyas received the best treatment for his injury,” the BCCI statement added.
