Senior India batter Ajinkya Rahane will captain Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025. The three-time IPL champions made the announcement on Tuesday (March 3) via a social media post. Rahane was signed by the Kolkata-based franchise for Rs 1.50 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year.
He succeeds Shreyas Iyer as KKR captain. Iyer led KKR to an IPL title win last year, but he was not retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who was signed for Rs 23.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has been announced as his deputy.
