In a thrilling encounter on Saturday, May 18, Faf du Plessis’ RCB clinched a crucial 27-run victory over Ruturaj Gaikwad’s CSK at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This win catapulted RCB into the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs, a significant milestone for the team and its ardent supporters. The Challengers once struggled at the bottom of the table, but they won 6 matches in a row to somehow finish in the top 4 and knock the Super Kings out of the competition.

Virat Kohli, RCB’s talismanic batter, was visibly elated and reflective after his team won. Kohli, known for his passionate and motivational approach, emphasised the importance of faith and hard work in their journey to the playoffs.

“God’s got a plan. You just have to be honest about what you are doing, and I think we were pretty honest with our hard work, and we got the rewards,” Kohli remarked, acknowledging the team’s relentless efforts throughout the season.

The match itself was a testament to RCB’s resilience and strategic execution. After being asked to bat first, RCB posted a formidable total of 218 for 5, with crucial contributions from Kohli, du Plessis, Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green. In response, CSK struggled to chase the target, succumbing to RCB’s disciplined bowling attack.
