Benching Dube at T20 WC would be grave injustice: Aakash Chopra

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra strongly feels that CSK star Shivam Dube should be in the playing XI for India in the T20 World Cup after his fine run in the IPL 2024. Chopra said that if Dube is benched, then it would be a grave injustice. Dube has once again proved to be a difference-maker for Chennai this season with the bat.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that Dube has been scintillating and sensational and should be playing the matches for the Indian side in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The former cricketer feels that no one can ignore Dube at the moment because of his striking ability.

“The way the kid is playing, he is absolutely scintillating and sensational. I am saying that you shouldn’t only send him but play him in the XI. The discussion is not about his T20 selection. In my opinion, you are compelled to play him in the XI,” he said.

“No captain, team management or selector can ignore him because if you ignore him, there is no player in India at the moment who hits better than him. If you make him sit on the bench, you will do a grave injustice,” said Chopra.

In 9 matches so far, Dube has scored 350 runs for CSK at an average of 58.33 and a strike-rate of 172.41. The CSK batter has also hit 3 fifties this season and has emerged as the second-highest run-getter for Chennai behind captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
