Ruturaj Gaikwad hasn’t changed as a person after CSK captaincy: Michael Hussey

Former Australia batter and Chennai batting coach Michael Hussey heaped praise on Ruturaj Gaikwad, saying the Super Kings captain has not changed as an individual after taking over from MS Dhoni as the skipper of the 5-time champions. Hussey said Ruturaj is as committed as he was before he took up captaincy with his meticulous preparation and the desire to improve with every passing day.

“I think he has been fantastic, if I am being honest. He is still the same person, that’s what I have been looking for whether captaincy changed him as a person or character. But I think he has been very consistent. He has gone about his own preparation in a very similar way,” Hussay said while talking to the press on the eve of their next match against SunRisers in Hyderabad on Friday.

“He has still got a great support system. MS Dhoni is still supporting him, he has got Stephen Fleming. Myself, as a batting coach, full support for him and all his teammates. I think he is doing a wonderful job so far.

“I think he is very calm and measured on the field. He is very good with his strategies and bowling changes. I think he is doing a great job so far and he has got a great support system. These are my observations so far,” he added.
