Rohit Sharma right choice to lead India in T20 World Cup 2024, says Sourav Ganguly

Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly feels that India made the right call by selecting Rohit Sharma as the captain of the side for the upcoming World Cup 2024.

Rohit, who recently made his return to the T20I format after a year-long hiatus, guided the side to a 3-0 series win over Afghanistan.

“Rohit Sharma is the right choice as India captain for the T20 World Cup. The way he led the Indian team and won 10 matches in the 50-over World Cup is still fresh in our memory. So, Rohit was the best choice,” Ganguly concluded.

Rohit hadn’t played a T20I since India’s exit in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the hands of England but made a sparkling return in the series against Afghanistan. After getting out for ducks in the first two matches, Rohit hit his 5th T20I hundred in a thrilling series finale in Bengaluru.

During Rohit’s absence from the T20I side, Hardik Pandya was the one captaining the Indian team in the shortest format of the game.
