Written by Shreyas Vyas

Young opener Pathum Nissanka continued his golden run with the bat, scoring another match-winning hundred to help Sri Lanka hammer Afghanistan by seven wickets in the third ODI and clean sweep the three-match ODI series in Colombo.

Despite a challenging target of 266 on a good surface, Sri Lanka made light work of the chase, cruising to victory with almost 15 overs to spare and 7 wickets in hand. The key highlight was yet another stellar opening partnership of 173 runs.

Avishka Fernando showcased his prowess with a solid innings, falling just short of a century with 91 runs to his name. Meanwhile, his partner Nissanka continued his impressive form, adding a century to his earlier double-century in the series. Kusal Mendis contributed with a quickfire 40 off 29 balls, ensuring Sri Lanka stayed on course for victory. Although there were a couple of minor hiccups towards the end, Sri Lanka’s chase remained virtually flawless, leaving no room for the Afghan bowlers to make an impact.
