100 percent England’s day in Vizag: Kevin Pietersen

Written by Mohan Sharma

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen slammed the Indian batters, barring Yashasvi Jaiswal, for not showing enough hunger on a batting-friendly surface in the Vizag Test.

On Day 1, after winning the toss, India finished with 336 for 6 in 93 overs. Jaiswal was their star performer after he stayed not out on 179 runs off 257 balls with 17 fours and 5 sixes.

Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, debutant Rajat Patidar, Axar Patel and KS Bharat got into double digits, but were unable to convert their starts.

Pietersen made a bold call, claiming that India’s approach on Day 1 has put the Three Lions ahead in the ongoing Test.

“One thing we know about England is when they come out to bat, they are going to attack, score quickly and score positively. They are not going to come in and bat the way India have batted today. I think that has put England ahead in the game.

“I say that because there wasn’t any gremlin on the pitch on Day 1. The bounce was even and there wasn’t any crazy spin to make me feel that India should be more than 3 or 4 down,” Pietersen told Jio Cinema.
