Written by Mohan Sharma

R Ashwin heaped praise on Ishan Kishan’s selfless attitude and said that the wicketkeeper-batter is someone who doesn’t complain when he isn’t playing for the team.

Kishan has been a standout performer in the T20I series against Australia, showcasing his versatility and adaptability on the field.

In the first T20I match held in Visakhapatnam on November 23, 2023, Kishan’s aggressive batting was on full display as he scored a swift 58 runs off just 39 balls. His performance was crucial in helping India achieve their largest successful T20 run chase against Australia. Kishan’s partnership with skipper Suryakumar Yadav, which amounted to 112 runs, was instrumental in chasing down a formidable total of 209.

Continuing his impressive form, Kishan contributed significantly in the second T20I as well. He scored a rapid 52 off 32 balls, aiding India in setting up a massive score of 235/4. His consistent scoring and aggressive approach have not only added depth to India’s batting lineup but also made him the highest run-getter in the tournament so far, with an average of 55.

Kishan has demonstrated his ability to bat at different positions, transitioning seamlessly into the number three spot when required by the team. His adaptability has been a key factor in his success and has provided India with strategic flexibility in their batting order.

Even during the World Cup 2023 campaign, Kishan usually found himself on the bench and played two matches at the beginning of the tournament due to Shubman Gill’s unavailability.

Ashwin praised Kishan’s attitude while talking on his YouTube channel, as quoted by Onecricket, and said he feels happy when the wicketkeeper-batter plays for the team. The spinner said that Kishan never complains when he has to sit out and claimed that he always helps others with their equipment.

“Ishan Kishan has a great attitude. I feel happy when he plays well. He’s someone who makes everyone happy, he keeps every player’s bat, gloves, and helmets ready and never complains when he sits out,” said Ashwin.
