Sri Lanka Cricket Crisis: Arjuna Ranatunga, Ministers baselessly drags, allages BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

Written by N Krishnamurthy

In his undying quest to take over the Cricket in the Island former World Cup winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga and a bunch of Ministers Including Sports Minister, who all desperately wants to score points before next election, are baselessly dragging and alleging Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah of ruining the game in Sri Lanka.

Following Sri Lanka’s embarrassing defeat against India at Iconic Wankhede Stadium on November 2 in the ongoing World Cup, a battle of power began in the Island. First, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe dissolved Shammi Silva led administration and parachuted Ranatunga as the chairman of the Interim committee. In response, Shammi Silva went Appeal Court and secured an Injunction against Interim committee taking over Maitland Place. Ultimately, International Cricket Council (ICC) took the extreme step by suspending Sri Lanka Cricket with immediate effect citing political Interference.

As the battle has Intensified significantly, with all these ongoing chaos, Jay Shah has also been dragged unnecessarily!

In an interview posted on YouTube, Ranatunga alleged the close connection with officials of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had created a situation where submissive to the BCCI.

“Because of the connection between SLC officials and Jay Shah they (the BCCI) are under the impression that they can trample and control SLC,” Ranatunga claimed.

“Jay Shah is running Sri Lanka Cricket. SLC is being ruining because of pressure from Jay Shah. One man in India is ruining Sri Lankan cricket,” Ranatunga said.

Not only This, Ranatunga dragged Jay Shah’s father as well.

“He is only powerful because of his father, who is India’s home Minister” he added.

“I wrote to Jay Shah as Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president explaining situations at SLC. However, It’s appear that SLC is protected under Jay Shah’s umbrella” a desperate Roshan Ranasinghe stated in the parliament earlier this week.

“Jay Shah came to Sri Lanka on a private jet and Shammi received him. As far as he understands, Jay Shah may have told Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickramasinghe to intervene to stop political interference to SLC” another Minister Wimal Weerawansa baselessly tried to accuse Jay Shah in the parliament.

Notably, Jay Shah doesn’t hold any position at ICC and is only a board director member, like any other Country’s cricket board official. Even then, to achieve their respective goals, everyone in Sri Lanka is baselessly trying to tarnish Jay Shah name!
