Court Issues Stay Order Suspending SLC Interim committee

The Court of Appeal Tuesday issued an interim order suspending the SLC Interim Committee and the Gazette Notification issued by the Minister of Sports for a period of 14 days.

Yesterday, In a dramatic turn of events, under the authority granted to him by the Sports Law No 25 of 1973, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe formed an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket consisting of the following members – S. I. Imam, Retired Supreme Court Judge, Rohini Marasinghe, Retired Supreme Court Judge, Irangani Perera, Retired High Court Judge, Arjuna Ranatunga, Upali Dharmadasa, Rakitha Rajapakshe, Attorney-at-Law and Hardy Jamaldeen.

However, later it emerged that Minister Ranasinghe didn’t consult or Inform his own cabinet or President Ranil Wickramasinghe before putting this POLITICAL Interim committee at Maitland Place.

“The Appeal Court acknowledged that the right procedure was not followed in Gazette notification to dissolve the Shammi Silva led administration” a source close to development told Cricket Age.
