‘Heard Babar Azam Cried After the Defeat’: EX-Captain Extends Support to Pakistan Team After Afghanistan Loss

Written by Rohit Pawar

Emotions were high to say the least, following the defeat, and it seemed to have gotten the best of the best ODI batter in the world, as former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf claimed that Babar Azam broke down into tears following their humiliating defeat to the Afghans in Chennai.

A humiliating defeat to their arch-rivals India, a faltering unsuccessful attempt against the mighty yet vulnerable Aussies, these two defeats were enough to send the cricketing world into a stare of doubt over the Pakistan side’s future. But, disaster truly struck them hard, when Afghanistan clinched a historic first win against Pakistan in dominant fashion to say the least, hanging the Pakistan side out to dry and pushing them deeper down the pit they seem to have dug themselves into in the points table.

“We are with Babar Azam in this tough time and the entire nation is with him.”Fans all over took to social media to share their messages of support for the currently-downtrodden skipper, with many showcasing faith in the batter despite all the noise that has arisen in recent times regarding their form.

After the match, Babar said at the post-match presentation, “This hurts us. We had a good total. In the bowling, we aren’t up to the mark because we are not taking wickets in the middle overs. In the World Cup, if you are not good in even one department, then you’ll lose the match.“In the field, we didn’t stop boundaries and gave away runs, that cost us. Bowling – we started well, in the middle overs, we needed wickets but we couldn’t take any wickets. All credit to Afghanistan the way they played in all three departments. That’s why they won. We are not playing good cricket in bowling and fielding.”
