Australia’s Mitchell Marsh is set to move to No.3 if Travis Head is fit for the World Cup match against the Netherlands, signaling a boost for the team after losses to South Africa and India. The return of Head, who was sidelined by injury, could provide the much-needed fillip to Australia’s batting as they look to continue their resurgence in the tournament.

Australia is poised to maintain its remarkable resurgence in the 2023 World Cup as they prepare to face the lower-ranked Netherlands at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, October 25. The team’s confidence will be bolstered by the return of Travis Head to training, and there is an optimistic outlook regarding his participation in the forthcoming match.

“Yeah, I mentioned to David Warner, maybe he can bat three, but I got a firm no from him, so that’s being sarcastic there guys. But yeah, very happy to go back down to three. I’ve obviously batted there a lot over the last couple of years, so I feel really comfortable at three. And if and when Heady comes back in, I think that’s the best position for me to play for this team,” Mitchell Marsh said in the pre-match press conference.

The five-time champions got their World Cup campaign off to a calamitous beginning, enduring substantial losses to South Africa and India. However, under the leadership of Pat Cummins, the team rebounded impressively, securing commanding victories in their subsequent two matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Travis Head, the 29-year-old opening batsman, had been sidelined due to a left-hand injury sustained during Australia’s tour of South Africa last month, causing him to miss the team’s initial four fixtures. Australia undeniably faced batting challenges in his absence and eagerly anticipates his return. During the team’s training session in Delhi on Monday, Head exhibited full-on commitment to his batting and appears to be in fine condition, potentially making a significant World Cup debut in the upcoming match against the Netherlands.
