Sri Lanka’s Team nutritionist accused of giving wrong prescription to players

In a shocking turn of events, Sri Lanka’s Team nutritionist Dr Hasan Amaratunga has been accused of giving wrong prescriptions to national players, Cricket Age Exclusively learns.

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had hired Dr Amaratunga’s services for the home series against Afghanistan In June and since then remained in his role. He is a senior registrar in Clinical Nutrition, National Hospital, Colombo and has worked with the Army Women’s Hockey team. He is also Country Representative for the Professionals in Nutrition for Exercise and Sports (PINES).

According to the sources, Dr Amaratunga prescribed wrong medication for players, Including a former Sri Lanka captain and he suffered badly!

“Players are not comfortable with him” one cricketer told Cricket Age.

Shockingly, even then Tim Maccasil, Head of High Performance and a so called messiah (who wants at least 10 years for himself and chief selector Pramodaya Wickramasinghe to bring Sri Lanka Cricket back on track) desperately wanted him for World Cup In India! However, as Incorrect prescription was reported officially by Team Manager Mahinda Halangoda, SLC refused to send him for the World Cup!

Obviously, the shocking Incident raises many questions? What’s Tim connection with Dr Amaratunga? Any business connection? Why so called messiah desperately wanted Dr Amaratunga for World Cup? To support another doctor friend at the Ministry?
