Ruturaj Gaikwad heaped praise on Rinku Singh after his heroics against Ireland in the second T20I and claimed that the left-hander knows when to go on the attack as a finisher.

Rinku played a pivotal role in India’s victory, scoring an impressive 38 runs off just 21 balls. This performance helped India secure a 33-run win over Ireland, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. His performance was not only instrumental in India’s victory but also thrilled the audience, who were eagerly anticipating his six-hitting reputation.

Rinku’s performance in the 2nd T20I against Ireland isn’t an isolated incident of his cricketing brilliance. Earlier in the year, during the IPL 2023 season, he had already made a name for himself as a formidable player. Representing the Kolkata Knight Riders, he amassed a total of 474 runs from 14 matches, with an average of 59.25 and a strike-rate of 149.53.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Gaikwad said that Rinku had already become everyone’s favourite with his performance in the IPL this year and pointed one of the standout traits of the UP batter is that he doesn’t try to attack from ball one and always gives himself time and assesses things.

Gaikwad said that Rinku knows when to pull the trigger when it comes to batting and feels that the knock against Ireland will help him a lot.

“Rinku has already become everyone’s favourite after this year’s IPL. He showed a lot of maturity while batting this year in the IPL. One of the standout things about Rinku is that he doesn’t attack from ball one. He always gives himself time. Whatever the situation is, he always assesses the condition and then he goes on the attack mode.”

:So, I think this is a good thing to learn for all the upcoming players or people who want to be a finisher. It’s always important that you take some time and then you can always cover up later. So, this year he has learned this skill well. He knows when to pull the trigger. He pulls the trigger at the right time. It was an important innings for him, as it was his debut. And I feel, this will help him a lot,” said Gaikwad.
