Travis Head’s fantastic hundred against in the WTC Final propelled the 29-year-old to the No.3 spot in the new ICC Test rankings for batters as Australia claimed the top three spots after the latest update.

Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith are currently ranked No.1 and No.2 in the rankings respectively after Australia’s 209-run win over India in the WTC Final to claim the Test Championship mace.

Head was in prime form during the match at the Oval as he scored a brilliant 163 from just 174 deliveries against India in the first innings. He received ample support from Smith, who scored his ninth hundred against India as the duo piled on the misery on the Indian bowlers.

Smith scored 121 off 168 deliveries as Australia posted 469 in their first innings. The second innings didn’t go to plan for Head and Smith but Labuschagne scored a vital 41 as the Aussies set up a total of 444 for India to chase.

Head was adjudged the Player Of The Match for his performance and this has helped him climb up the rankings after the new update. The 29-year-old jumped up three spots to now be in the third spot.

Labuschagne continued his dominance at the top of the rankings with 903 rating points. Steve Smith ended up climbing one after his performance against India and has now 885 points.

Head is now at 884 rating points. Kane Williamson slipped from his second spot and was leapfrogged by Smith and Head and is now in fourth.

Usman Khawaja, who had a rough outing against India at the Oval, has slipped down two spots and is now in the ninth spot. Rishabh Pant, who is currently recovering from the injuries he sustained in a car crash, is the only Indian in the top 10 rankings.
