Former cricketer Irfan pathan has suggested that Delhi Capitals could try to give the responsibility of head coach to Sourav Ganguly for the next season of IPL after horrid run this year.

Ganguly was appointed as the Director Of Cricket by DC in March of this year and was given charge of all the verticals of the Capitals franchise, including the Women’s Premier League team, Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 and Dubai Capitals in the ILT20.

The 2023 IPL season was a disaster for DC as they lost the first five matches of the campaign. While the Capitals did have a change in fortunes and won four out of the next five matches, the losses to CSK and PBKS recently put them out of contention for a spot in the Playoffs of the competition.

Ahead of the clash against PBKS at Dharamshala on 17th May, Pathan suggested that Ganguly’s presence on the DC dugout is a big deal, while talking to Star Sports.

The former India pacer suggested that Ganguly should be given the responsibility of head coach for next season as he can make a big difference in the team.

Pathan said that the former BCCI president has knowledge of the psychology of the Indian players and know hows to run the dressing room.

“Sourav Ganguly’s presence in the Delhi dugout is a big deal. I think if Dada is given the responsibility of coach as well, he can make a big difference in this team. Dada has knowledge of the psychology of Indian players. He knows how to run the dressing room and Delhi should definitely take advantage of that. At the time of the toss, Warner has said that his team has now started preparing for the next season and in this context, it would not be wrong to see Ganguly in a changed role,” said Pathan.
