Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar hailed Rinku Singh as an ideal package to have in any team while adding that the young batter has always been a great player of spin bowling.

Nayar’s remarks came after Rinku played another match-winning knock against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk to keep KKR’s slim hopes of qualifying for the IPL 2023 playoff alive. Notably, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh, both hit the fifties en route to a 99-run match-winning stand to help Kolkata Knight Riders beat Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in an Indian Premier League match on Sunday.

Rana finished unbeaten on 57 off 44 balls, while Rinku made 54 off 43 deliveries to set up KKR’s 145-run chase after losing their first three wickets for 33 runs in the fifth over. KKR finished with a total of 147 for four in 18.3 overs, with Rana leading from the front after capitalizing on a dropped chance.

“Rinku Singh has always been a great player of spin. If you go back and look at his first-class season, domestic cricket in general, Rinku Singh is one name that will come across as one of those three-four people who have been successful over the past two-three season,” KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar said in the post-match presser.

Rinku’s fearless batting has made him one of the season’s standouts, and his heroics against GT have made headlines. In a game where KKR appeared to be out, the Southpaw hit five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal in the final over to win the game for the two-time IPL champions. Rinku has scored 353 runs for KKR this season, with an average of 50.43. This has piqued everyone’s interest, with many pundits claiming that the KKR batter could be called up to the Indian team.

“He has always been someone who has done that for UP in domestic cricket in different situations. He knows how to play in these conditions, domestic cricket gives you one of the most challenging pitches. He has been through the grind, I am so happy to see him achieve success like that.

Abhishek Nayar also predicted a bright future for the young KKR batter, saying that he is a level-headed, hard-working who wants to evolve as a cricketer.

“I think it’s just the beginning and the tip of the iceberg in terms of what he is gonna achieve going forward because he is a level-headed, hard-working who wants to evolve as a cricketer and he is the ideal package to have in any format in any team,” Nayar added.
