Former Pakistan captain and batting legend Javed Miandad made insensitive remarks on the issue of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the upcoming Asia Cup tournament citing security reasons.

Speaking in a podcast hosted by Nadir Ali, Miandad tried to dilute the Indian concerns about security saying life and death are not in our hands.

“Forget security. We believe that agar maut aani hai toh aani hai. Zindagi aur maut toh allah ke haath mein hai..(If death is your destiny, it will come for sure. Life and death are in the hands of the Almighty),” Miandad said in the podcast.

Miandad also added that if India invite Pakistan, they will visit their neighbours. But want India to reciprocate, adding that it is India’s turn to visit Pakistan.

“If they call us today, we will go. But they should return too. The thing is the last time we went, but they haven’t come here since. It’s their turn now,” the ex-Pakistan skipper added.

Pakistan is due to host the Asia Cup in September but uncertainty surrounds the venue of the tournament as India has made it clear it can’t play in Pakistan.
