SRH misusing Adil Rashid and Washington Sundar, says Anil Kumble

SunRisers Hyderabad have not started their Indian Premier League campaign well this season. SRH, led by Aiden Markram have fallen to two woeful losses in the first 2 games of the season and currently hold the bottom place in the IPL points table with a terrible Net Run Rate.

SRH’s batting failed them in both matches, first against Rajasthan Royals and then against Lucknow Super Giants. Former India player and coach Anil Kumble felt that SRH have used two of their main players incorrectly – Adil Rashid and Washington Sundar. The former PBKS coach has pointed out that despite having Rashid in their playing XI in the first match against RR, the home team did not use his services when Buttler was racing to a half century in the powerplay overs.

“When they played against Rajasthan, they missed a trick by not bringing in Adil Rashid against Jos Buttler. We all know Buttler, at the start of the innings doesn’t like leg-spinners coming in and bowling. Even here, Adil Rashid was held till the first six overs. You only have 121 runs on board, use your main spinner. He should be bowling. Even Washington Sundar bowled just that one over in the powerplay,” Kumble said while analysing the game for JioCinema.

Stating that he had the side in his top-4 before the tournament began, Kumble hit out at SRH’s batting order, stating that they need to sort out their issues with the batting order.

“It is not the greatest of starts. Even I had them in my Top-4 and I still believe that they have a good side, a very good batting lineup. They have not fired,” Kumble said.
