Government Auditors Questions Sri Lanka Cricket’s Godfrey Dabrera

Godfrey Dabrera, Manager International venues and facilities at Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), was Wednesday questioned by Government Auditors over his alleged overseas trip, Cricket Age Exclusively learns.

“He was summoned to Inquire his overseas trip alongwith his son to check machinery for the Cricket Board” a highly placed source told Cricket Age.

To conduct a comprehensive audit on the findings of the six member committee that investigated the alleged misconduct by the players, SLC officials and associates during the T20 World Cup in Australia in November last year, National Audit Officer had started complete Audit of the Cricket Board last month.

Earlier this year, the 6-members committee found enough ground to dissolve the SLC. A recommendation was made in the 63-page report to the Minister of Sports to exercise his powers under the Sports Law and regulations to suspend or cancel SLC’s affiliation with the Ministry.

However, the report was challenged in courts. SLC President Shammi Silva and Secretary Mohan de Silva filed a writ application in the Court of Appeal to quash the report.

In response, Sports Minister Ranasinghe told the Court of Appeal on February 3rd that he would not take any action on SLC, until a formal audit on the issues raised by 6-members committee.
