Mumbai Police serves notice to Vinod Kambli, asks former cricketer to record statement

Former cricketer Vinod Kambli has been asked to record his statement at the police station after his wife Andrea Hewitt made accusations of domestic violence against the player.

The Bandra Police has gone to give notice of Section 41A of CrPC to Vinod Kambli. The police have asked him to come to the police station in a day or two to record his statement. The police currently know one aspect of the incident which Vinod Kambli’s wife has told the police. Police will investigate Vinod Kambli’s wife’s allegations and related questions should be asked to Kambli.

No arrest has been made so far in connection with the alleged incident which took place on Friday, he said.

Kambli’s wife Andrea in her police complaint alleged that he threw the handle of a cooking pan at her due to which she suffered a head injury, the official from Bandra police station said.

The incident took place between 1 pm and 1.30 pm on Friday when Kambli reached his flat allegedly under the influence of alcohol and started abusing his wife, he said.
