Irfan Pathan has made a major claim about Shubman Gill and said that the young batter has as much potential as Virat Kohli after his maiden T20I hundred against New Zealand on Wednesday.
Gill remained unbeaten on 126 from 63 balls in the third T20I in Ahmedabad and his knock consisted of 12 boundaries and seven sixes. India would end up winning the match by 168 runs and seal the series 2-1.
“The way he is batting, I am a huge fan of his. I am repeatedly saying that he can become an all-format player for you. Virat Kohli ruled all formats for many years, this batter has as much potential. To convert that into performance is a different thing,” said Pathan.
Pathan also revealed that he was in awe of Gill’s century spree in international cricket this year.
“That happens with time but Shubman Gill has started to do that. He scored his first century in August. Gill has now scored a total of six centuries in international cricket and we have just started February, where all other players have scored just four international centuries,” said Pathan.
