Sidath Wettimuny, Kushil Gunasekera, Dinal Phillips Meet Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister!

Former Sri Lanka test opener Sidath Wettimuny, along with Kushil Gunasekera and eminent lawyer Dinal Phillips today afternoon met Country’s Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe, Cricket Age Exclusively learns.

Sidath, one of the most respected voice in Sri Lanka Cricket, Kushil and Phillips are among those 12 former International cricketers and prominent personalities who filec a writ application in February 2021 at Court of Appeal, seeking the restructuring of Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) governance and voting structure which they claim is behind all ills plaguing the country’s favourite sport.

The other petitioner are former cricketers Michael Tissera, Muttiah Muralitharan, Justice (Retd.) Saleem Marsoof PC, Dr. Palitha Kohona, Rienzie Wijetilleke, Vijaya Malalasekera, Ananda Gamini Gardiya Punchihewa, Somasundaram Skandakumar and Thilan Wijesinghe.

Interestingly, In 2021, the writ petition was opposed by then Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa. However, his successor Roshan Ranasinghe has sent a letter to AG’s department, saying he has no issue in the said matter and Court Of Appeal can proceed.
