If playing Afghanistan is so uncomfortable for Australia, I will consider my participation in BBL: Rashid Khan

Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has said that he will be considering his future in the Big Bash League after Cricket Australia’s decision to pull out of a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in the UAE.

Khan took to social media to say that he takes a lot of pride in representing his nation and would be strongly considering his future in the BBL.

“I am really disappointed to hear that Australia have pulled out of the series to play us in March. I take great pride in representing my country and we have made great progress on the world stage. This decision from CA sets us back in that journey. If playing vs Afghanistan is so uncomfortable for Australia, then I wouldn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable with my presence in the BBL. Therefore, I will be strongly considering my future in that competition,” Rashid Khan posted on his Instagram account.

Australia has decided to call off their series against Afghanistan, citing the Taliban’s recent announcement regarding restrictions on women’s and girls’ education and employment. The series offered ICC ODI Super League points, but due to CA’s decision to forfeit the series, all 30 points will now go to Afghanistan.

“This decision follows the recent announcement by the Taliban of further restrictions on women’s and girls’ education and employment opportunities and their ability to access parks and gyms. We thank the Australian Government for its support on this matter,” CA said in a statement.
