Star batter Suryakumar Yadav on Thursday shed light on his camaraderie with Virat Kohli after their match-winning partnership in India’s 56-run victory over Netherlands in a T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 match against the Netherlands in Sydney. Suryakumar said the two batters understand and respect each other’s game and the mutual admiration has brought them success in the recent past in T20I cricket.

Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have added 463 runs in just 8 matches in T20Is in 2022 at a staggering average of over 70. The two have added 2 hundred-plus stands and two fifty-plus stands.

“I feel we respect each other’s game when we are batting together. For example, if I am getting a few boundaries from one end, then he just tries to rotate strike. It’s just the respect we have for each of us when batting together, we just enjoy each other’s batting. We try and run hard as much as possible. It’s a great thing. Really looking forward to having more partnerships with him,” Suryakumar said.

“My plans are very clear when I got into bat, I look for boundaries, try and hit the gaps and run hard. When you are batting with him, you have to run hard as well. And he just clears your thoughts. When I was a little confused, he told me what delivery I could expect from the bowler. So it’s a very good camaraderie, I am really enjoying batting with him,” he added.
