Outstanding: Moeen Ali heaps praise on England bowling after Pakistan series win

Written by Abhishek Patil

It was an evenly-matched series from the get-go but Pakistan was holding the edge at one point with a 3-2 lead. England clawed their way back and the visitors were able to post 209 runs in their 20 overs on the back of Dawid Malan’s 78 and cameos from Ben Duckett and Harry Brook in the final match. In response, the Pakistan batters, apart from Shan Masood, failed to make an impression.

The hosts lost skipper Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan early and Masood was the only one who offered some resistance. Ultimately, their innings folded at 142 for 8, handing the trophy to England.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Ali said that it was a brilliant game for the team and had special praise reserved for the bowling unit and said they performed well throughout the series.

The stand-in skipper also praised the batting performance in the final match and said that it gives a lot of confidence moving forward.

Ali further commented that it was amazing to see how the team responded in two must-win games and also hailed the squad depth of England.

The all-rounder ended by thanking the Pakistan Cricket Board for looking after the team during the series.

“Brilliant game from us, we played well from the start. I thought our bowling was outstanding, throughout the series we bowled really well. When the team is batting like that, it gives a lot of confidence. Credit to the boys for the way they played. We needed two must-win games. It was amazing to see how we won the last two games. Also shows the depth we have in our squad. Just want to say thank you to everyone, and the PCB for looking after us,” said Ali.
