Virat Kohli’s Technical issues can’t be ignored: Sanjay Manjrekar

Virat Kohli’s “form” has been in the headlines ever since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season began. From getting out to spinners to being deceived by bouncers, Kohli has had all sorts of dismissals this campaign. He ended up having one of his worst seasons in the RCB shirt, scoring 341 runs in 16 matches at an average of 22.73 with a strike-rate of 115.98.

After Kohli was dismissed cheaply yet against in the Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals on Friday, Sanjay Manjrekar highlighted the technical flaws in his batting.

“Virat wanting to be on the front foot no matter what is not helping his cause. Mental toughness takes you far sure, but technical issues cannot be ignored completely. Crunch game, front foot to a short of length bouncing ball cost him his wicket again,” the former India cricketer tweeted.

Barring his match-winning knock in the final league stage game of the season against Gujarat Titans, Kohli has hardly put together an innings of considerable weight this campaign for RCB. Having not scored a single century for over two years, there’s no denying that the poster boy of Indian cricket isn’t enjoying a particularly fruitful phase.
