Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson credited his family for their support throughout his career to helping him become the player he is today. Samson revealed how his family were subject to various taunts and insults from people who did not believe the wicket-keeper batter was capable of making it big in the sport.

The RR skipper elaborated how his parents were mocked by people for his carrying his kitbag to the bus stand. “My father and mother used to pick my kit bag, which was very heavy. to the bus stand. There used to be noise from behind “Oye Sachin aur uske papa bhi jaa rahe hai bhai, ye banega Tendulkar?” (Oh look, Sachin and his father are also going. Will he become Tendulkar?) So he has also tolerated a lot of taunts,” said Samson on Gaurav Kapoor’s show.

The 27-year went onto hail his family for always believing in him and helping him fight for his dream to play for the Indian cricket team. Samson revealed his brother always believed he was destined to play for the Men in Blue.

“But they and mainly my brother were confident that I would play for India. My brother told me that it was his superstition to not tell me that I would play for India but he always knew from within that I was capable,” said Samson.
