My aim is to do something special for the country: In-form Dinesh Karthik

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 16runs in the IPL 2022 match played at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium. RCB’s wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik played a crucial role in his team’s victory. Karthik scored 66 runs off 34 balls with the help of five fours and five sixes. He was adjudged man of the match.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Karthik said that he wanted to be part of the Indian team. the wicketkeeper-batsman stated, “I have a bigger goal. I have been working really, really hard. My aim is to do something special for the country. This is part of the journey and I’m doing everything I can to be part of that Indian team. This is one such step in that direction.”

In the IPL 2022, Karthik is in blistering form. In the six matches played so far, he has scored 197 runs with the strike-rate of over 200. Karthik was dismissed once in the tournament. He is a crucial cog in RCB’s batting line-up.

With the help of Karthik’s explosive innings in the death overs, RCB managed to score 189 runs in 20 overs with the loss of five wickets. Glenn Maxwell also smashed half-century. He scored 55 runs off 34 balls. For the sixth wicket, Karthik and Shahbaaz Ahmed put up 97 runs unbeaten partnership. Ahmed scored 32 runs off 21 balls.

Chasing a total of 190 runs, DC got a good start. The opening pair of Prithvi Shaw and David Warner scored 50 runs in less than five overs. Shaw got dismissed on 16 runs. Warner smashed half-century. He scored 66 runs off 38 balls. DC fell short of RCB’s total by 16 runs. They scored 173 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
