Let him take rest for 3 games: Harbhajan Singh opens up on Ruturaj Gaikwad’s batting struggles in IPL 2022

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the opening batter for Chennai Super Kings, has failed to fire in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League up till now. He was out without scoring in the first match against Kolkata Knight Riders and could only manage scores of 1 and 1 against Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings, respectively, in the next two matches. His poor outing in the first three matches has hurt CSK’s chances, and they will hope that the 25-year-old batter who finished as the highest run getter in the 2021 edition of the league will soon find his form and start scoring big runs.

And looking at Rutu’s struggles in the first three matches of each season, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh jokingly advised CSK to rest Gaikwad for the first three games of each season and include him from the fourth match onwards.

“If I was a member of the team management, I would have said, ‘Let him (Gaikwad) take a rest for three games with his family, then bring him straight into the fourth game. Why waste the first three games? ” Harbhajan said.

The former CSK player said that he is hopeful that Ruturaj will soon find his form as he rates him as a quality player. “Let’s hope that he finds form because we know that he is a quality player and has great ability in his batting.”

After losing the first three matches for the first time in their history, CSK will face the Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad in the fourth match on Saturday (April 9).
