Roshan Mahanama resigns from Sri Lanka’s Cricket Advisory Committee

Legendary Roshan Mahanama has ended his association with the Advisory Committee, appointed by sports minister Namal Rajapaksha last year to advise Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), from January 21, Cricket Age exclusively learns.

Aravinda de Silva is the Chairman of the Committee, while Kumar Sangakkara and Muttiah Muralitharan are the other members.

A number of decisions regarding the players’ annual contracts, appointing of coaches and coaching programs in the recent past were taken on the recommendation of the advisory committee.

Mahanama has informed that his decision was taken due to personal reasons.

Cricket Age understands that the letter sent by him to the Minister of Sports has stated that it should not be misunderstood that he does not want to work for Sri Lanka Cricket.

One of the most Iconic player in Sri Lanka Cricket history, Mahanama is universally well respected for his conduct as an ambassador of the gentlemen’s game!
