Former India pacer Zaheer Khan lauded Indian opener Rohit Sharma for his terrific knock of 127 runs in the ongoing fourth Test against England at the Oval in London. Rohit looked in sublime touch as he notched up his maiden overseas Test hundred for India on Day 3 of the match. The Hitman helped India stay afloat in the contest and amass a healthy lead of 171 runs in their second innings.

Zaheer praised Rohit for adapting his game to the English conditions at the Oval and moulding it to perfection. Rohit was brilliant against the new ball and did well to leave the deliveries outside off stump while going after the loose deliveries. The Hitman looked in splendid touch and batted extremely well in overcast conditions.

“His intentions were clear. He has adapted his game according to the English conditions. While facing the new ball, he is trying to set himself up at the crease that enables him to leave the deliveries outside the off-stump and pick the balls which he can target,” Zaheer Khan told CricBuzz.

“The Oval pitch offers bounce and Rohit Sharma relishes when the ball comes at pace. He has moulded his game according to India’s needs and scored a brilliant ton,” the former India pacer added.

Resuming India’s second innings from 43/0 on Day 3, Indian openers Rohit and KL Rahul added 83 runs for the first wicket to put the visitors in a strong position. While Rahul was sent back on 46 by James Anderson, Rohit continued his pursuit of a maiden Test hundred in England. He reached the three-figure mark in style with a straight six off Moeen Ali.
