India in England: Brad Hogg predicts a ‘big score from Virat Kohli’

Written by Vishwas Gupta

Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg believes that Virat Kohli has made some adjustments to his batting style in his last innings and backed India captain to end his hundred drought very soon. Kohli failed to convert his fifty into a hundred as England seamer bowler Ollie Robinson pitched a length ball outside off which was poked again by Kohli and straight into the hands of Joe Root, who took a comfortable catch at the first slip.

The Indian skipper has got dismissed edging balls slightly outside the off-stump on a number of occasions in the ongoing series. Not just Robinson, James Anderson and Sam Curran have also dismissed Kohli in that fashion.

Kohli has now gone more than 50 innings without an international hundred, with his last century coming way back in the year 2019, against Bangladesh in Kolkata. Notably, Kohli has managed to score only 124 runs from five innings with the lone half-century in the third Test at Headingley.

“I am predicting that Virat Kohli will score a hundred somewhere along the line. I just think he has realized what difference was there in his technique two years ago from what it is now. I just saw in the final innings that there were slight adjustments in the way he set up. When Virat Kohli gets in the right, he doesn’t take time to turn it around. So for me, watch out for a big score from Virat Kohli,” Hogg said in a video uploaded on his Youtube channel.

Brad Hogg further said Kohli is a captain that teams like England and Australia fear, as he imposes himself on the opponents.

“I think Virat Kohli is a very good skipper. I think he is a skipper that Australia and England fear. He just imposes himself on the opposition. We have had just one loss here, so this is where you start asking questions.

“What sets good leaders apart from mediocre leaders is the way that they come back from adversity. But I know England fear Virat Kohli by the way he imposes himself in the middle,” Hogg signed off.
