The 2nd phase of the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will kick off on June 9, in Abu Dhabi. The players and the majority of officials have reached Abu Dhabi, which was inked on as the venue last month. Earlier, the PCB had announced that the tournament would resume in Pakistan.

However, the matches were shifted due to the increase in the COVID-19 cases in the country. The PCB got all the clearances in time and the tournament finally resumes next week.

The PSL 6 was suspended after the COVID-19 cases in different camps. It is to be noted that a protocol breach was reported even before the start of the tournament as Daren Sammy and Wahab Riaz had met Peshawar Zalmi’s owner, Javed Afridi. He wasn’t part of the bio-bubble.

This was for the 2nd consecutive occasion when the tournament was suspended. In March 2020, PCB was forced to suspend the tournament after Alex Hales showed COVID-19 symptoms. The tournament was completed in November last year.

Imad Wasim-led Karachi Kings are placed at the top of the points table while Peshwar Zalmi sit at the 2nd spot. They are followed by Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators, respectively.

Following PSL 6, the national players will leave for the UK for the white-ball series. The Babar Azam-led side is scheduled to play 3 ODIs and as many T20Is against the hosts, from July 8 to 20.
