Written by Vishwas Gupta

The Indian players will embark on their second overseas tour since the resumption of the game as they travel to England for the final of the World Test Championship and the five-match Test against England. The WTC final will be played from June 18 to 22 while the India-England Test series kicks off in August.

Before departing for England, the Indian players will stay in hard quarantine for a week. The players will have to serve the quarantine period in the hotel and the BCCI will not entertain requests of home quarantine. The report also adds that the players will assemble in Mumbai in the fourth week of May with a COVID-19 negative report.

Carrying a negative COVID-19 report is a mandatory norm now. In IPL as well, the players were only allowed entry into the team hotel after they showed the COVID-19 negative report.

It is to be noted that non-citizens from India can’t enter the UK due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country. The report adds that elite sportspersons are allowed to enter the UK. The visitors will also have to serve 10 days in isolation after landing there.

The English players who flew back home after the suspension of IPL 2021 are in isolation for 10 days. Team India will have a long stay in the UK due to the break between the WTC final and the Test series. The final Test of the India-England series is scheduled to kick off on September 10.
