Liam Livingstone returns home from IPL citing bubble fatigue

Rajasthan Royals batting allrounder Liam Livingstone has pulled out of the Indian Premier League 2021 and flew back home on Monday due to “bubble fatigue accumulated over the past year,” the franchise confirmed.

“Liam Livingstone has flown back home late last night, due to bubble fatigue accumulated over the past year. We understand and respect his decision, and will continue supporting him in any way we can,” Rajasthan Royals wrote on Twitter.

Livingstone was bought by the Riyals in the IPL 2021 auction for his base price of Rs 75 lakh. He did not feature in any of the three matches Rajasthan played in IPL 2021 but after the departure of star all-rounder Ben Stokes, Livingstone had the possibility of replacing his compatriot in the playing XI.

Livingstone was a part of the England team that toured South Africa late last year before entering the Big Bash League bubble for his two-month-long stint with Perth Scorchers. After the BBL, Livingstone traveled to India as part of England’s white-ball squad.

Notably, Livingstone scored an unbeaten 27 on his debut against India in the 2nd ODI to guide England home and level the series at 1-1. In the next match, he scored 36 runs and also picked up a wicket for 20 runs but ended up on the losing side.
