Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan, who smashed match-winning 92 off 49 balls against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday, has already started his preparations for the Chennai leg of his team.

The current Orange Cap holder, who has scored 186 runs in 3 matches so far, said that he was following the IPL 2021 matches in Chennai and preparing himself for the slow and spin-friendly wickets there.

Delhi Capitals, who won two out of their three matches in Mumbai, will now fly to Chennai to face Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

“It’s a nice challenge. Especially what I am seeing on TV, the wicket is turning, a bit slow and I am already preparing for it. Looking forward to play against SRH and MI and grab the opportunity,” Shikhar Dhawan told in a post-match interview with his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ashwin, visibly delighted by the performance of his teammate, could not hold his excitement on the prospect of watching the southpaw play at his home ground. He gave a shout to all the fans and said, “For all those who are watching matches in Chennai, please remember Gabbar is back and he is coming to Chennai.”

“Once I know that they bowling yorkers and wide yorkers and they have set up a field where it’s hard to find boundary on my off-side, I try to use the pace and I enjoying doing that, I enjoy playing those cheeky shots, sweep or reverse-sweep. I keep trying in the nets and I get success in the match then,” Dhawan said.
