Suryakumar after maiden India call-up for England series: Feeling is surreal

Mumbai Indians star Suryakumar Yadav expressed his ‘surreal feeling’ post earning a maiden India call-up for the T20I series against England after scoring tons of runs in the IPL and domestic cricket. Suryakumar Yadav took to his official Twitter handle to express his happiness after getting an India call-up and tweeted, “The feeling is surreal,” along with his photo. After his much-awaited maiden call-up, several former and current Indian cricketers including Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, RP Singh and Jalaj Saxena have congratulated Suryakumar on this special occasion.

BCCI announced a 19-man squad for the upcoming 5-match T20I series against England, starting on March 12. Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, his Mumbai Indians teammate Ishan Kishan and Rajasthan Royal all-rounder Rahul Tewatia also earned maiden call ups for the T20I series next month.

In the 13th edition of the marquee T20 league, that is IPL 2020, Suryakumar amassed 480 runs in 15 innings while Ishan Kishan was the top run scorer among uncapped players with 516 runs in just 13 innings.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma after having missed out on the white-ball leg of the Australia tour is back as Virat Kohli’s deputy. India and England are scheduled to play five T20 matches in Ahmedabad, with the opening game to be held on March 12.

Jasprit Bumrah has been rested while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who missed a significant part of the IPL due to a thigh injury, returns to the national team. Manish Pandey and Ravindra Jadeja, Sanju Samson and Mayank Agarwal – all part of the T20 squad that toured Australia – have missed out. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has also not been picked.
