With uncertainty continues to loom large over the much-awaited fourth Test between India and Australia in Brisbane, members of the Queensland government have reportedly insisted the Indian contingent to not travel to the state capital if they don’t want to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines in Australia. Yes, the Queensland government has stated that the Indian national cricket team is more than welcome to not travel to Brisbane for the fourth and final Test against hosts Australia if they are having trouble in following the COVID-19 quarantine guidelines.

The latest response reportedly made by the Queensland government has come in the wake of Team India showing reluctance to travel to Brisbane for the final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between the two cricketing superpowers. According to multiple reports, it was learned that Ajinkya Rahane-led Indian side is not willing to travel to Brisbane if players are asked to undergo quarantine after already serving the 14-day mandatory period for their lengthy tour Down Under.

“If the Indians don’t want to play by the rules, don’t come,” said Ros Bates, who is the state’s Health Shadow Minister. The final Test of the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy is scheduled to be contested at The Gabba in Brisbane from January 15-19.

Prior to the Queensland government’s strict remark against the visiting team, the Indian contingent made headlines for all the wrong reasons ahead of the upcoming third Test between India and Australia. Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma and youngsters Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini, Shubman Gill have been placed in isolation after an alleged bio-bubble breach of the COVID-19 bio-security protocol in Australia.
