Lara names Kohli, Bumrah in best cricketers of present era

Brian Lara is easily regarded as one of the finest batsmen to have graced the gentlemen’s game. Over the years, the former West Indies captain has been vocal on several aspects of the game and never shies away from expressing his opinions on various cricketing matters. His views and analysis during IPL 2020, as on-air commentator, was highly appreciated by many.

Recently, Lara came up with his list of best cricketers of the present era. The list featured some big names from the current times. Lara picked Indian captain Virat Kohli, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, England’s Joe Root, South Africa’s AB de Villiers and Australia’s Steve Smith as the best batsmen of the current era.

On the other hand, he mentioned Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, England’s Jofra Archer and James Anderson, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan as the best five bowlers among the current lot.

Furthermore, Lara also revealed his pick for the five best batsmen and bowlers he played against. In the batting department, his list included two Indian stalwarts such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara. Among the top bowlers he faced, the legendary cricketer picked Wasim Akram, Shane Warne, Waqar Younis, Muttiah Muralitharan, and Glenn McGrath were mentioned.

To top it all, the former left-hander also listed the best West Indies cricketers of all time. This included George Headley, Everton Weekes, Garfield Sobers, Vivian Richards, and Malcolm Marshall. Among the five best Windies cricketers of his era, he chose Courtney Walsh, Curtly Ambrose, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, former captains Carl Hooper and Chris Gayle.

Lara shared the whole list on his official Instagram handle and wrote, “I have decided to raise my hand up and give you my top fives. Swipe to see the array of top s I have for you! Please don’t ask where my name is, it’s my top not yours.”
