A lot was said and written about the fitness of Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma towards the business end of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Soon after he suffered a hamstring injury, the Mumbai batsman was left out of India’s squads for the upcoming tour to Australia. However, he was later named in the updated squad for Tests after he appeared for a few matches for MI, including the final – which his team won convincingly.

As reported by PTI, the Australia-bound cricketer has begun his training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

During the IPL, as he made his comeback for MI, while he said he was in good shape, the BCCI reckoned he needed some more time to recover. Rohit put all doubts to rest with a match-winning 68 against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2020 final.

Indian pacer Ishant Sharma, who was ruled out of IPL 2020 midway with an injury, is also currently undergoing training at the NCA where he bowled in full flow on Wednesday under the supervision of chief selector Sunil Joshi and NCA chief Rahul Dravid. Both Rohit and Ishant are expected to fly together to Australia – where they will also have to serve 14-day quarantine.
