BCCI likely to announce IPL 2020 schedule today

Written by Abhishek Patil

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce the IPL 2020 schedule on Friday. The recent COVID-19 scare in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp, where 13 members were found to be positive, has possibly led to the delay in the schedule.

The coronavirus situation in UAE was also said to be one of the reasons behind the delay in schedule. Sources close to the development confirmed to timesnownews.com that the IPL 2020 schedule is expected by Friday.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are expected to take on MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opening match. Compared to other franchises, while CSK will have not much time for practice, the Yellow Army had organised a five-day camp in Chennai before leaving for UAE.

CSK were expected to kick off their pre-season camp on August 28 but the team’s quarantine period was extended after 2 cricketers and 11 members of support staff tested positive for coronavirus.
