Have not played alongside a better all-rounder than Ben Stokes: James Anderson

Ben Stokes is the talk of the town, some are even calling him the best in the world right now. The reasons for the buzz are obvious as Ben Stokes starred in England’s second Test against West Indies, with an impressive 254 runs and 3 wickets. The spectacular performance showed England the path to victory as they scalped 19 West Indies in two days to win a Test match which saw the entire Day 3 washed off due to incessant rain in Manchester.

Three Lions captain Joe Root recently referred to Stokes as ‘Mr Incredible’ and added, “We are watching a player at the peak of his powers, at the peak of world cricket, delivering time and again.”

Senior pacer James Anderson has got himself added in the list of players, who have lately found themselves awestruck by Ben Stokes’ magic on the field.

Anderson said Stokes is the best all-rounder he has shared the dressing room with and also also stated that the 29-year-old was on a path to become England’s best all-rounder ever. James Anderson, who missed out on the 2nd Test match, said that it was hard to find words to appreciate Ben Stokes currently.

“He’s certainly the best all-rounder I’ve ever played with and he’s becoming the best all-rounder that England’s ever had. There’s no reason why he can’t go on to become even better. With the bat, he’s averaging in the 40s, with the ball he’s below 30, and he’s taking spectacular catches. It’s just incredible that we’ve got him on our team and he’s great to watch.

“It’s hard to say how good he is because it’s hard to find the words. Joe said the other day we were in the presence of greatness and he’s spot on. He gets into any team as a batsman, while his bowling gets better and better each time he goes out there. It’s just amazing to have that talent in our team, and to be able to watch it first-hand as well was amazing,” Anderson, England’s highest wicket-taker in Test cricket said.

Notably, Ben Stokes with his back to back good performances with the bat and ball has toppled Jason Holder to become the number one all-rounder in Test cricket. The New Zealand-born cricketer has been unstoppable since the 2019 World Cup and continues to be his team’s biggest asset time and again.
