Retirement is his personal decision, we can’t ask him: Suresh Raina on MS Dhoni

Written by Rohit Pawar

does Suresh Raina have any idea about MS Dhoni’s future plans? In a conversation with former India opener Aakash Chopra, Raina said that retirement is his (Dhoni’s) personal decision and that they can’t ask him about it.

“It is his personal decision. We can’t ask him. It’s his personal decision. He has played for so many years. He was batting well.. he was playing new shots…he has something in his mind.,” Raina said.

This clearly means that Raina also doesn’t have an idea about Dhoni’s future. He, like every other Indian, only knows that Dhoni was confirmed to play IPL 2020 but doesn’t know whether he will return to play for the national team or not.

The Chennai Super Kings’ captain was confirmed to end his exile by playing IPL 2020. However, the tournament is currently suspended due to uncontrollable circumstances. Dhoni is confirmed to play IPL but his future with the national team hangs in balance. Team India now has a full-time wicketkeeper-batsman and finisher in the form of KL Rahul (in ODIs) and the team management might not be tempted in making any changes in this format.

In T20Is, though, Men in Blue need a finisher and of course, Dhoni will be an automatic choice if he makes himself available for selection.
