SLC Removes International Cricket Confidential Secretary Kanchana Hettiarachi

Three days after returning to partial normalcy, the cash-rich Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Wednesday removed International Cricket Confidential Secretary Kanchana Hettiarachi with immediate effect, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Hettiarachi, a hard working employee for last 11 years, was earlier been transferred to SLC “punishment centre’ at Khetterama, without any proper reason.

According to sources, her contract was expired on May 8, after that SLC didn’t renew it, even though there were reports that her contract has been extended for another 6 months. On Wednesday, SLC HR manager Tanesh Dias officially informed Hettiarachi that her services are no longer needed.

At international cricket, Hettiarachi was handling player affairs, logistics, travel arrangements and visas for National Team, A team, U19 team, IPL contracts, Women’s Team and Emerging Teams and was assistiing overseas teams when they tour Sri Lanka.

Interestingly, in last few months, SLC has made it a habit to remove confidential secretaries and female employees without any prior notice or reason. Earlier, SLC removed Dushyanthi Karunanayake, confidential secretary to then Chief Operating Officer Jerome Jayarathne. Then, HR Executive Oshini Samarawickrama, who is a lawyer by profession, was also mysteriously transfered to Khetterama!
