Young India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant on Friday revealed that BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting adviced him to give himself time and play his natural game during IPL 2018.

In a live Instagram session with Delhi Capitals, Pant opened up on his love for Test cricket, IPL 2018 being a life-changing season for him and much more.

After making a strong India debut, Rishabh Pant has been under immense scrutiny in the past year for his poor form and injudicious shot selection, even though the young wicketkeeper-batsman has received contact backing from the team management and senior players.

“That was a life-changing season for me. I needed that breakthrough which everyone needs,” Rishabh Pant spoke on IPL 2018 when he scored scored the most runs for Delhi in one season.

Pant added that the Delhi Capitals core group, who are still to win an IPL title, always talk about breaking the duck.

“The core group always thinks of winning IPL for Delhi. We qualified for the knockouts last time and came third.”

Pant also said Delhi Capitals coach and Australian legend Ricky Ponting always tells him to play his natural game. “He gives me a free hand. He says do whatever you want to do.”

Pant also revealed the advice given to him by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, who was the mentor of DC franchise in the 2018 season.

“You need to give yourself some time and then you can do whatever you want to do. He always wanted me to do well. He told me a few things and I tried them also. It helped,” Pant said.
