‘He should have done much better’, Kapil Dev on Sachin Tendulkar

With 15,921 runs in the purest format and 18,426 runs in ODIs, Sachin Tendulkar is easily regarded as one of the finest batsmen of all-time, if not the greatest ever. The legend lit up world cricket with his presence on the cricket field, lasting for a glorious period of 24 years.

However, former Indian skipper and country’s first World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev believes the Master Blaster was still capable of more.

Speaking in an interview with Radio City, Kapil stated, “Many people misunderstand the statements I make when I talk. According to me, Sachin Tendulkar is the finest cricketer India has produced. I still feel that he should have done much better than he did. He had already done so much, and no one has performed better than him, but I feel, Sachin had even more talent.”

Kapil further praised the batting legend and said, “Sachin has had an amazing career. To play for your country for 24 years is easy to say but difficult to do. I wish him all the happiness. For all the happiness he has given India, I wish him and more importantly, his family, good luck. The family sacrifices more than anyone else in these scenarios. I wish Sachin great health.

He has moved generations for two and a half decades. Many youngsters yearn to be Sachin Tendulkar. As long as we have cricketers like him, the game will never die,” concluded the veteran cricketer, who has recently made heads turn with his bald-look, inspired by his heroes Viv Richards and MS Dhoni.
